How to Create a Group Note
-
Begin document creation as you would for any standard note.
If you need a refresher, see the How to Fill Out and Submit Staff Documentation article.
-
When selecting clients:
Use the Client dropdown to select multiple clients.
Ensure all selected clients are assigned to the same site.
-
When selecting the service:
Choose a service code that is set up for group services.
The service must allow overlapping service times.
Complete the document as normal.
Submit the documentation.
What Happens Next
-
When the group note is submitted:
An individual document is created for each client included in the group session.
Each document is linked to the same service, date, and session details.
The notes are stored separately in each client’s profile for billing, compliance, and reporting purposes.
Standard validation and submission rules apply to each individual document.
Why It Matters
Group notes streamline documentation for group-based services by eliminating duplicate work while maintaining accurate service tracking. Proper setup ensures correct billing, compliance, and site-based validation.
