This guide walks you through creating custom templates for assessments, notes, clinic forms, and legal documents within Notenetic.
π 1. Navigate to Document Templates
Go to More > Document Templates.
Click + Add Template to begin creating a new template.
π 2. Choose the Template Type
Select the appropriate Template Type from the dropdown:
Assessment
Note
Clinic Document
Legal Document
βοΈ 3. Name Your Template
Enter the name of your template in the Template field (e.g., Progress Note, Biopsychosocial, Treatment Plan Update).
π§© 4. Add Controls (Fields) to the Template
Use the Add New Control dropdown to choose which type of field you want to insert.
Each field has unique configuration options:
Available Field Types
Paragraph β Add static/explanatory text.
Text Box β Short answer field.
Option to set minimum characters
Optional βRequiredβ toggle
Text Area β Longer free-text field.
Option to set minimum characters
Optional βRequiredβ toggle
Radio Button β User can select one option.
Checkbox β User can select multiple options.
Dropdown List β Create a menu of selectable options.
Signature Line β Adds a signature input field.
Date Picker β Calendar-style date selector.
Time Picker β Time selector tool.
Text Editor β Rich text formatting capability.
Heading β Adds a section header.
Client e-Signature β Adds a checkbox allowing the clientβs signature to attach to that template section when the client signs.
Parent e-Signature β Same behavior as Client e-Signature, but for parent/guardian signatures.
π¬ 5. Configure Field Options
Depending on the control type, you may see options to:
Add Field Hints (helpful instructions for staff)
Enter default text in a Text Area
Mark the field as Required
Add or remove selectable choices
Set character minimums
Click + Add Control to save each field to the template.
Repeat as needed to continue building the template.
π 6. Preview Your Template
Click Preview Template on the right side to see how your template will display to staff and/or clients.
πΎ 7. Save or Exit
Youβll have three options at the bottom:
Save/Update Template β Finalizes the template for immediate use.
Save as Draft β Allows you to return later and finish building.
Cancel β Exits without saving any unsaved changes.
β οΈ Note: Canceling will discard any unsaved work.
